AIDA'S HOME PAGE (UPDATED NOVEMBER 21, 2004) [ADOPTED SUMMER '04]
Hi, my name is Aida and I am a 3 year old Rottweiler. I was born on April 1, 2001 and was fostered by Jeremy Schuster through Rottweiler Rescue of Los Angeles. Like most rescues, there's a whole story that goes along with me, but what I can tell you is that I'm a very healthy, energetic female that wanted nothing more than a good home where someone was waiting to love me as much as I was waiting to love them.
I was picked up by Rottweiler Rescue during February. I was in a home with people near Camp Pendleton that didn't really have time for me and unfortunately failed to pay much attention to my ears and other needs. Thanks to Jill Kessler, I was taken to Jeremy's house, and he was been patient and worked to teach me the things he said I needed to know to be in someone else's home.
My daily routine as a foster doggie included food in the morning, lots of attention, walks and short jogs (what can I say, Jeremy's hit that middle age thing) and a feeding in the evening. Jeremy had me run alongside his bike, so I'd get a nice workout and burn off my energy. During the day, I would lay around a while if someone's working or I couldn't get attention. I didn't mess up anything in the house, but if there was food on the countertops, I'd find it! (Yep, been crated for that a couple o' times, but maybe it was worth it, 'cause one time I almost got a whole ham sandwich!).
I am not so keen on the other dogs around but I'm told that's because I was never socialized to them. I just know I don't want them getting near the people that are taking care of me, but if they show me it's really o.k., well, then, I guess I have to listen.
They tell me I am a success story, because I was adopted by a great guy named Marvin this summer. He takes me with him on trips and when he's home, I have the run of the place, including his custom engine shop out back. Everyone there loves me and I love them - so I guess it has worked out for all of us. Thank you!
Here I am with Jeremy and a 3 mos. old pup. The pup and I got along fine, but he tormented me all day and all night. I could never catch a break. I didn't think anything could wear me out, but he sure did. Thankfully, he went home after a few weeks here, and Jeremy knew it was the puppy that ate the orchids, not me!
They made me share my water! Sheesh.
O.K., so maybe it wasn't all bad. The people here knew how to do a two-handed pet.
So far, I'm told I'm walking nicely on the flexi-lead and that I am very good at settling down when I'm alone with Jeremy. Sometimes I sleep on his bed, sometimes I sleep on my dog bed, it just depends on whether he'll let me up there. It is a Tempur-Pedic, so don't you think I belong there? Anyway, when he says, "Out!" I know I have to get off the bed or away from him.
I've learned to take treats nicely from your hand and am trying to keep from jumping - but it's hard because I do get excited. I'm only three and have plenty of energy. You should see me run!
I am o.k. with getting a bath now - but with my nice, soft coat I really don't need one too often. I try to keep myself very clean.

I like to sunbathe, believe it or not.
I hear the screen door behind me was bent by the last dog here, who'd go in and out like it wasn't even in place.
Do I sound like the dog for you? I'd consider you compatible if you have a loving home, preferably with no dogs, and even though I've been around kids, I think an adult handler or couple would be best. You have to be willing to walk with me and exercise at least once or twice a day - oh, and let me lick you. I like to do that a lot.

Lastly, remember that I've been passed from one home where they thought they were allergic to me to another where I barely got any attention, and from there went from place to place until Jill found me a foster home. I'm very comfortable here and not so sure about going somewhere else, so if you really want me, you'll have to give me time to settle in. Once you do, we'll be pals for life.
[You must go through RRLA if you wish to adopt me!]
