Foreign Pilot Checkrides

Jeremy Schuster is a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) serving the F.A.A.'s Riverside Flight Standards District Office (RAL FSDO). He welcomes foreign pilot applicants and follows the ever-changing regulations and procedures to ensure that  applicants are not frustrated by procedural obstacles along the way to obtaining the certificates they desire.

In December, 2002, Jeremy was recognized for "outstanding support and participation in the Aviation Safety Program for the District Office at Long Beach, California.

According to Jeremy, "There are no secrets about the checkride." He is happy to discuss the checkride requirements, format and the good and bad things which he's seen as a DPE. He's here to help you succeed and to give something back to aviation.

It may take a bit of work, but as you can see from the expression of this pilot, Jeremy was able to work through a morass of administrative dealings, logbooks from Japan, New Zealand, and the United States, a foreign license/medical, a U.S. Restricted pilot certificate and other documents to qualify Teruaki Kubota to take his practical tests.

Congratulations, Teruaki Kubota, new commercial pilot!

Jeremy currently serves the F.A.A. as a complement to his law practice, which includes aviation transactional work involving aircraft sales and fractional ownership, enforcement actions, and aircraft management. He also serves as an aviation safety counselor for the Long Beach Flight Standards District Office, where he presents safety seminars and answers questions involving "the regs" when required. Jeremy works with Mark DiLullo, another RAL DPE, to ensure that applicants can obtain a fair and impartial checkride at virtually any time.

Operating from a corporate facility with over 35,000 square feet of office and hangar space at KONT, you find getting in and out a breeze, with controllers standing by to assist you. The offices and hangar, shared with Threshold Technologies, Inc. and Aviation Maintenance Group, Inc. are comfortable and have a quiet meeting room, rest rooms, and most modern conveniences.

Note: The move to our new (larger) facility began on October 14, 2002; we're in the new hangar, but until the office construction is completed (estimated Feb./Mar. 2003), applicants should plan to meet for the practical test at the Mercury Air Center FBO, where comfortable private conference rooms, a pilot lounge, and all modern conveniences are available. After you land, request taxi clearance to "Mercury" (located mid-field on the south side (GA side) of the airport).
